Demos Family Donates Food Truck to Liberty Station

Peter and Kristen Demos have donated their Demos Brands food trailer to Liberty’s Station, the new social enterprise of Amelia’s Closet in Murfreesboro.

“The Demoses have been instrumental in the development plans for Liberty’s Station,” said founding executive director Jody Powers. “The food truck is a tremendous gift that will help us advance our mission of providing job training for adults with employment obstacles such as criminal records or disabilities, as they build skills to acquire long-term sustainable employment in the community.”

According to Peter Demos, “The food truck helped sustain our company through COVID-19. Now we feel incredibly blessed to have the opportunity to ‘pay it forward’ to Liberty’s Station.”

“It’s even more meaningful to us knowing that people will receive training on the food truck in preparation for future employment opportunities in the food service industry,” Kristin Demos added.

The food truck will specialize in gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches prepared by the Liberty’s Station staff, most of whom will be paid interns gaining the experience needed to obtain successful long-term employment throughout the community. The truck will be located at the organization’s NW Broad Street location and will be available for catering events.

Since 2015, Amelia’s Closet has helped remove employment obstacles for economically and socially disadvantaged individuals and at-risk populations, with the goal of ending poverty cycles and other results of hopelessness.

“Having a job is a gift of hope and purpose,” Powers said. “This amazing gift of the Demos’ food truck puts us one step closer to our goal of helping the marginalized belong and to be able to contribute in their community,” Powers added.

Liberty’s Station is located in the former automotive garage at Jackson Heights Plaza on NW Broad St. in Murfreesboro.
