United Way Of South Central Tennessee Announces $707,489 Hud Award for Rutherford County Continuum Of Care

County Continuum of Care, also known as Rutherford Thrives, has been awarded $707,489
from the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). HUD announced $3.6 billion in funding through a competitive process to distribute appropriated funds to Continuum of Care grant recipients. These grants are intended to support projects promoting a community-wide commitment to the goal of ending homelessness.

Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Center (DVSA) received $132,520 from the HUD to enhance its housing services for survivors of domestic violence. “At DVSA, we are very grateful for receiving CoC HUD funding, so that we can better assist survivors of domestic and sexual violence to obtain housing
options away from the hands of their abuser. There is a causal relationship between
domestic violence and homelessness, and we want to help break both cycles for the
survivors that we serve,” said Ericka Downing of the Domestic Violence and Sexual
Assault Center.

Rutherford Thrives (TN-510) Continuum of Care, employs a range of services and housing options designed to assist individuals and families experiencing homelessness at different stages of their journey toward stable housing and self- sufficiency. Collaboration among government agencies, nonprofit organizations, service providers and other community stakeholders is essential to this process.
