MCS Names Kimberly Hix Principal of Cason Lane Academy



Murfreesboro City Schools is pleased to announce Ms. Kimberly Hix as the new principal of Cason Lane Academy, effective for the 2026–27 school year.

Ms. Hix was selected after an extensive interview process led by a committee that included Cason Lane Academy teachers, a parent representative, and central office staff. She was the clear and unanimous choice of the panel.

“Ms. Hix consistently stood out for her thoughtful leadership, strong instructional background, and the meaningful relationships she has built with students, staff, and families,” said Dr. Trey Duke, Director of Schools. “The committee was confident that she is the right leader to guide Cason Lane Academy forward.”

Ms. Hix has served as assistant principal at Cason Lane Academy for the past four years and previously taught for seven years at Scales Elementary School. She has spent her entire career in Murfreesboro City Schools, demonstrating a deep commitment to the district and community.

Adding to the significance of her appointment, Ms. Hix is a former student of Cason Lane Academy, making her return as principal a full circle milestone. A former Teacher of the Year, she was also selected to participate in the TSIN Innovative Leaders Institute, reflecting her commitment to continuous growth and leadership development.

“Ms. Hix has already played a vital role in the success of Cason Lane Academy,” Dr. Duke said. “I am confident her leadership will ensure that success continues well into the future.”
